Care

Teak is the hardwood of choice for durable outdoor furniture. It requires little or no care and will last for many years. Initially, teak is a
golden brown color. This color is derived from the natural oils in the wood. Exposure to the sun will naturally dry the oils and change
the color to a silver gray. This process can take 6–12 months depending on the amount of exposure to the elements. As the weathering
process occurs, you may notice small cracks (often called “checking” in the furniture industry) and the grain may raise slightly. This is
normal and in no way affects the stability and integrity of the wood. The only maintenance your furniture requires is a periodic
cleaning with a soft bristle brush and mild detergent (laundry detergent and water work well). There are commercially available teak
protectors and teak oils; however, Jewels of Java does not recommend any particular brand and does not warrant the use of these
products. Jewels of Java does not recommend Teak Oil for outdoor use; it significantly increases the maintenance of your furniture.

All-Weather Rattan is a synthetic material ideal for indoor and outdoor use. While the material will withstand weather and
temperature fluctuations, we do recommend storage indoors during the winter months and extreme cold temperatures.
Periodic cleaning with a soft cloth and mild detergent (laundry detergent and water work well) is necessary. Limiting sun
exposure by covering the furniture when not in use will prolong the viability of the color and prevent fading.
Cushions are made using Sunbrella fabrics and a quick dry foam. While storage is recommended, it is not necessary. Should the
cushions get wet, stand them on end with the zipper side down to allow them to drain and dry. Refer to the Sunbrella website for
recommended care and cleaning of your fabrics: www.sunbrella.com.

Sling components should be cleaned frequently with a mild detergent and a SOFT brush. Scrub in a circular motion to clean
between the fibers. Rinse thoroughly. Do NOT use solvents are they destroy the UV protected quality of the material.
Do NOT use power washers.

Stainless Steels need to be cleaned for aesthetic considerations and to preserve corrosion resistance. Routine cleaning is necessary
to preserve the appearance and integrity of the surface. Stainless surfaces thrive with frequent cleaning. The simplest, safest, and
least costly method that will adequately do the job is always the best method. A soft cloth and clean warm water should always be
the first choice for mild stains and loose dirt and soils. A final rinse with clean water and a dry wipe will complete the process and
eliminate the possibility of water stains.
